Research Interests
All of my research is coordinated through the Comparative Orthopaedic Laboratory, which I direct. The focus of my research is centered on disorders of articular cartilage. My work includes in vivoand in vitro study of articular cartilage in health and disease. Specific avenues of research include three-dimensional chondrocyte culture, osteoarthritis models, meniscal replacement and regeneration, articular cartilage resurfacing, creation of functional growth plates, and total joint replacement. Laboratory assessment modalities include a wide range of techniques from the DNA and mRNA level to biomechanical testing and clinical trials. Current funding is both extramural and intramural.
