2004 Comparative Orthopaedics Day
Comparative Orthopaedics Day was developed by The Comparative Orthopaedic Laboratory and The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in order to provide scientists a forum for presentation and discussion of orthopaedic research. This year, the fourth annual Comparative Orthopaedics Day will feature a keynote address by Professor John Innes followed by presentations of original research in the field of orthopaedics. Professor Innes, and others, will provide input regarding the importance and implications of these projects with respect to orthopaedic research and clinical applications.

We are very excited and honored to have Professor John Innes as our keynote speaker this year. Professor Innes is a consummate clinician-scientist (MRCVS, PhD) with a clinical focus in veterinary sports medicine and a research focus in joint disease. Professor Innes completed his veterinary training at the University of Liverpool and the University of Bristol. He then completed a PhD program in Osteoarthritis at the Rheumatology Unit of the Bristol Royal Infirmary, Professor Innes has been able to combine his talents, training, and experience as a veterinarian and orthopaedic scientist to produce some truly ground breaking work in animal models of joint disease, including studies on biomarkers, osteoarthritis, and cruciate ligament disease. He has also pioneered many of the currently used techniques for small animal arthroscopy. He is very well known and respected in both the veterinary and human orthopaedic arenas, as is evident by his extensive publications and funding record.
